Why do some pillows cost $30 and some $300?

$30 pillows are mass-produced from the cheapest materials with the cheapest fillers. I’ve never seen one that was worth the money. $300 pillows are fully custom and require many people (fabric wholesaler, fabric retailer, workroom, designer) to create. By purchasing remnants of those expensive fabrics, constructing the pillows myself and selling them myself, I can offer a high-end product at a very reasonable price.

What are remnants?

A remnant is a small piece of fabric (less than a yard to a couple of yards) which is often left over from a drapery or upholstery job. I buy only new remnants in perfect condition.

What makes a good pillow?

Quality fabric is most important. I use mostly upholstery fabrics which are made to stand up to years of wear. Quality construction is next. I triple stitch corners and apply zippers to every pillow, lining them when necessary. Finally, professional looking pillows are often over stuffed. If the cover is 18″ square, the insert should be 20″ square and some combination of down and feather.

Are your pillow covers machine washable?

No. For the most part, upholstery fabrics cannot be machine washed since they are treated with various stain-fighting and stabilizing elements. On the other hand, because of this, they need less cleaning. Spot cleaning is usually sufficient.

Where do you get your goods?

I have no secrets. I search every day online and in local shops. The key is to be constantly looking.

What kind of payments do you accept?

I accept cash, checks and credit cards.
